So, you have decided to organize an online business and have chosen a niche such as selling goods to America. We will not talk about how many prospects the international market opens up for you and how big the potential income amounts are (you probably already know this).

This article is intended to help you, as a budding entrepreneur, choose a relevant, in-demand and profitable product based on trends and needs analysis. We hope to give you fresh ideas and save you from mistakes.

Best Selling Products in America
If you don't take into account trends and peak seasonal demand, then various gadgets boldly take the "palm of victory". Thus, last year, Americans bought the most:

Smartphones (particularly iPhone and Samsung Galaxy).

"small" electronics, when buying which the brand is not important: batteries, charging cords, flash drives, hubs, adapters, lamps, radios, navigators, etc.
new products that haven't yet reached the Western market (if you're lucky enough to find them).
Overall, the electronics niche is quite attractive if you evaluate solely the demand for goods in the US. From the risk standpoint, we would not recommend entering it without clear positioning/differentiation from competitors or confidence in the exclusivity of the selected positions.





Something that is ALWAYS in demand
There are 3 categories that people around the world will spend money on, regardless of their life and financial circumstances:

Everyday goods (including clothing/footwear and household chemicals).
Toys and educational activities for children.
Products for animals.
These niches are practically not subject to seasonality, so you can not be afraid of sharp fluctuations in demand. They cannot be called oversaturated (although they are highly competitive). In them, you can not be afraid of "burnout", which is typical for trendy new products.

According to BigCommerce, couples with children spend an average of 7 hours a week shopping online, 61% more than shoppers without children.

But in order for reselling goods in the USA to bring you high income and not disappointment, it is important to correctly approach not only the choice of positions, but also the organization of marketing processes.

Thus, 42% of consumers admit that they will buy anything if their friends or relatives recommend it to them. And 23% of respondents agree to make a purchase based on recommendations from social networks*.  

These numbers tell us that when starting a business in the “ALWAYS in demand” segment, you should place maximum emphasis on customer relationships, branding and reputation building.

Niche of handmade, exclusive, individual and expensive goods
Unlike buyers from Eastern European countries, US residents are willing to pay “large sums” for collectibles and art objects, and highly value manual labor.

Here you will find a very grateful and solvent audience.

In this area, we can only give advice on choosing a platform: such products are better “sold” on specialized resources, such as Etsy or in craft shops, which can be created on Shopify.

3 Most Important Factors for the American Buyer
What is the first thing the average American will pay attention to? Quality? Product photos, ratings and reviews? Of course. However, these will NOT be the deciding factors when buying.

87% will go where it is cheaper (since they consider price to be fundamental in making a decision). Another 80% of respondents will definitely pay attention to the speed of delivery and will refuse to buy if delivery is paid or very expensive. And finally, 71% of US residents will buy where there are discounts.

Big players like Amazon have spoiled customers with the speed and cost of delivery. So when selling ANY products, it is important to take this into account.

How to Find Products That Are Trending in the US
Now about searching for trends. Our opinion: you need to be very careful with them. After all, on the one hand, such a model really allows you to get super profits in a short period of time.

On the other hand, it is not a basis for a long-term, stable business.

A toy that everyone had literally 2 weeks ago will have zero demand today. Remember how it was with spinners (hand-held spinners with bearings in the center) or popits ("blades").
